Britpop, Illustrated
For the fans, by a fan. Created for my friend Davy Love to celebrate 31 years of Blowup—the iconic Toronto night he’s run since the ’90s—this poster series pairs familiar lyrics with visual nods to the songs, sleeves and memories that defined its dance floor. Lines from Saint Etienne, Blur, Pulp, Suede and The Stone Roses meet the Ford Granada from the “Parklife” video, lips borrowed from Pulp’s “Lipgloss” sleeve, the lemon from The Stone Roses’ debut album cover, and an old-school brown Carlsberg bottle—a tribute to what many of us had in hand. Part anniversary campaign, part love letter to a night and the people who made it.
